First Cruise and Our Silver Wedding

Hi all - So excited its just over a month until we do our first cruise - RCI Voyager to the Med for 7 nights. We have never been cruising before - can anyone advise how soon we can get on board at Barcelona? The ship leaves at 7pm but we'd like to be on board exploring well before then! We have an overnighter in Barcelona but have not yet booked a hotel - any suggestions? Also is there anything special we can do for our silver wedding celebration? Can't wait! x

Haven't travelled on voyager but you can usally board around 2pm on most lines, Most lines have celebration packages you can pre book varying in price dependant on what you have flowers, chocs champers etc, happy aniversary have a great trip.

Thanks for that! I'm sure we will be able to board around 2pm no problem as a Barcelona hotel will probably be checking out for noon - can't wait to be onboard exploring! Will post a report when we get back! ;)

    Hi
Congrats on your silver wedding :D We left from Barcelona last year (not on RCI so can't help there) but we stayed in an hotel just off Las Ramblas. Can't remember name.. Le blanc or something....really good, also found fab inexpensive restaurant La Rita. If you go to main board, do a search for Barcelona Hotels, you'll get some good info there.
    Have a great cruise

Many thanks for the tip - will go and have a look at the posts for a hotel. As it's only one night it's no need to be anything over the top but we both would still like a nice place as it's our anniversary! Thanks for taking time to pass on info x

    Hi Jacmor
Sailed from Barca in June on Adventure of the Seas.
Stayed night before in Hotel Montblanc, only around corner from Catalunya Square, where you get off Airport Bus.
Got to ship @ 10:50 and was onboard at 11:00,go any later and you meet all the coaches coming from airport.

I've cruised many times with Royal Caribbean and many times from Barcelona.

R.C. start boarding at 11.00am, 10.45 is my arrival time, but avoid 2.00pm like the plague, by then it's a seething mass.

Take my advice and you should be onboard by 11.15am.

    Thank You re Boarding

Thank you so much - exactly why this site is so useful...due to info from people like yourself with experience who can pass it on ;) We will now plan to do a morning transfer to the ship and take some time to explore a little of Barcelona when we get off the ship at the end of the cruise instead!

Hi Jacmor, congratulations. A cruise is THE best way to celebrate a significant anniversary (our Silver was on QE2) and however many you go on you will always remember your first! There is something amazing about arriving at the port and seeing the magnificent vessel which will be your home for your holiday. I can still remember Monarch of the Seas (RCI) in San Juan when we joined her for our first cruise in 1995 with our two sons.
