Q: We have booked a 2 week Med cruise on Ventura (30/5/08) but am now horrified by all the bad reviews on the this ship, please somebody tell me something good about it, as we are really worried we have wasted our money, also is it worth paying the extra for CA grade over a JA. thanks

We were on the Ventura 2nd May to 9th May it was our first cruise and we were very impressed with the Ventura , we enjoyed it so much we have booked the Ventura for next year to the carribean. We had a cabin with a balcony on the riveria deck which was nice only problem was the ledge above the balcony stopped us getting the sun. We are trying C deck next year. People always moan about things on holidays but we had no problems with our cruise. We had a brilliant holiday, hope you enjoy yours, Jan, Sloug

Having sailed on the maiden cruise to the Med on Ventura, I dont know what all the fuss is about. Both my wife and I enjoyed our trip. The ship is exellent, the interior design is really nice especially las Ramblas and the Tamarind club. The pools are very goood and there are plenty of sunbeds. The theatre is very smart although, for some shows you need to arrive early to command a decent seat. The Ventura theatre company shows are very good. Foodwise, the restaurants are fine, club dining is the best [always guarantee your table]We choose first sitting as it gives you a nice full evening to do as you wish.I am sixty and my wife is fifty, we have now cruised with P and O 6 times and will continue to do so, probably on the Ventura again. With regards to the difference between CA and JA cabins, the CA are Mini-suites and the JA are balcony cabis, the only difference that I could see was that the Mini suites were a bit longer and had a small settee in them. We had a balcony cabin JB grade on the Lido deck it was excellent, especially for the pools and buffet restaurants. I hope this comment has calmed your fears about this ship, you really have nothing to worry about

There have been a lot of positive reviews on the P&O website. There are bound to be glitches at first but people seem to have had a really good time

Hi, I was Not on Ventura’s cruise, but as no one has yet has responded to your plight, here’s my opinion for what it’s worth. It is no longer uncommon for major problems on new superliner’s inaugural sailings. The ships get bigger, hence so do the problems. Cunard’s QM2 had much worse problems on it’s maiden, too unpleasant to discuss here. P&O are one of the worlds oldest & most experienced lines & I would be very surprised if they allow this ‘chaos’ to continue into the next few weeks, so hopefully some measures will be in place before you cruise. Regards
