The Athena is actually owned by Classic International Cruises, and WAS only chartered to Travelscope, but not at the time the firm got into trouble! Travelscope actually gave up its charter of the Athena a while before it got into trouble whilst operating the Van Gogh. Their problems actually stemmed from some very bad publicity they got earlier, and some of this was directly linked with the Athena! On a very rough trip from Falmouth to the USA, a passenger fell down a flight of stairs and was killed, the cruise line being blamed for this because they did not confine passengers to their cabins during the storms. So far as what the Athena is ACTUALLY doing now, it's a bit of a mystery, but it is MEANT to be cruising around Scotland at the moment on cruises advertised by South Quay Travel. I suggest that you phone them on 0845 430 0274, and they should be able to fill you in on EXACTLY what the Athena is doing at the moment. Happy cruising.

Update, if you are still interested? Athena is now on charter to a Spanish cruise company called Vision Cruceros, and is doing Med cruises out of Barcelona for the Summer 2008 season. Happy cruising.

According to Berlitz Guide, Classic International Cruises. Their website mentions Athena but shows no cruises listed for 2008. There was a big lawsuit involving this ship & Travelscope are now in administration.
