Your ship will probably dock in Santa Cruz being the only harbour with deep enough water. My suggestion would be to hire a car for the day and drive over to Puerto de la Cruz and Loro Park. You can park there but if you have the time, park on the front of Puerto, walk up past the small fishing harbour into the town square (5 mins) and jump on the Loro Park road/train that runs about every half hour. You will probably spend several hours in the park so it is a good idea to take drinks and a snack with you as that inside the park can be expensive and not very good quality. Enjoy your visit and you will probably want to go back to Puerto for at least a week at some other time to enjoy exploring the area.

Hi, We have just returned from the Ventura it was amazing the ship is fantasic the kids loved the kids club we have 2 boys 7 & 10. As for loro park yes they do go there you can book online with p&o we did not take this trip as we wanted to go to auqa land instead which was on the same day. They are very over priced and we had most of our trips cancelled which we had pre- booked 4 months in before hand which was very upsetting for the childern. Have fun

Hi, we went on the Oceana in July 2004 to Tenerife and I would recommend that you skip the organised tours and hire a cab at the dockside. We always do this wherever we go as you get your own personal guide (the driver) who will take you where you want, will wait for you while you visit wherever you have chosen to go and will return you to the ship for one all in price (agreed at the begnning of the trip). In Tenerife, we had a island tour, he took us up into the mountains, stopping at the best photo points and all for the cost of what one of us would have paid to go on a coach trip with loads of other passengers. We have been on some really good tours with P&O, but they are expensive and they do limit you to a schedule. It depends what you like to do, if you like freedom - take the taxi drivers - they're ace!

Not sure where she'll dock but i'd say Santa cruz which is in the north! The Loro park we did independantly when over there on holiday, if it'll be your first visit to the park ask about the discovery tour once entered into the park, you pay another 6 euros per person but have a behind the schenes tour with one of their guides which is like a wild life program, worth every penny this must be one of the best animal parks in the world!(definately a must).

Cruise ships normally berth in the main harbour at St Cruz which is in the middle of the city and within easy walking distance of the shops. However Loro Parque is in Puerto de la Cruz which is on the other side of the island and joined by motorway. Expect a taxi will be expensive. Best go on an escorted trip. There is plenty to do in Loro Parque such as the park itself which is well laid out with flowers as well as the dolphin, sealions etc as well as the parrots which are mostly (sadly) in cages. But a trip to Mt Teidi is a must if you have not been before. Robertsons Aberdeen

We did this in May, from the Independence, & we stayed with our guide from the coach, who knew the times of all the shows-- dolphins, whales & sealions. They all followed one another within a few minutes, so we'd have missed some if we had to find our own way. They were all brilliant, & very good value for money, when we worked it out, as the transport, the shows, entrance fees,& a short coach tour afterwards, were all included.Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Hi - Not sure, but I think the ship docks at the Loro park end of the island - and Loro Park is a wonderful day out - if you like the animals - take a backstage tour and go behind the scenes with lunch included. We had a fabulous day there, excellent value for money.

we went to lorro park when staying in a hotel in March and it was fantastic value for money and good rain or shine....sealions show, parrots show, whats show and dolphins show are all included in the price and we had a lovely pizza at lunch time and stayed in the park all day. Get there when it opens for a quieter start to the day and to get your bearings and the peguins were really something

Hi, the ship will berth at santa cruz. we did this trip in april with my grandaughters. We booked through P.O. and thought it well worth it as I had looked up the entry fee on the internet and that together with transport worked out about the same as what we paid for the trip. This way you get far more time at loro park as the coach picks you up right by the ship and you are there in about half an hour. Loro Park was great and you can pay extra for a 'behind the scenes' tour which we did and it was well worth the money (about £5 each if I remember)but you see where the gorillas sleep and the guide helps you find the quickest way around the park (lots of shortcuts). We had a wonderful time and then just boarded the coach outside and back to the ship! The penguin area is a sight to behold - in their own little antarctica complete with snow! The guy who owns the zoo is german and really into keeping all the animals in their natural environment. I suppose all in all we had about six hours there which you don't have if you do not take the tour! A must and a great day out! I thin overall it is well worth going on the P.O. tour as you get more time and it does not cost anymore in the long run. have a great time.
