Q:
On a Black Sea cruise, do you need visas for Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, etc.? These would be very expebsive.

Sounds like an unusual cruise as normally it is the Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania that are visited and for these your passport is stamped on the ship and I always carry a photocopy of the back page of my passport and there is no charge by the ship for this. With Russia go only on organised tours either by local prebooked tourist agencies or on ships excursions when visas are arranged for you. I would hesitate to go into Georgia at all as I would consider this unwise unless the cruise line knows different. If you want to get a Russian visa yourself they are expensive. A of N is they guy who knows all about these. .. Neil

A big thankyou to Neil and Ada Down. On Sep 26th 2008, Black Watch departs Dover for 28 days, visiting among others Odessa Ukraine; Yalta Russia and Batumi Georgia. I may rethink going on this cruise.
