We will be visiting one of the best gardens in Barbados, Andromeda Botanical Gardens. The garden was laid out and designed by a Scottish lady, Irish Bannochie, an internationally renowned horticulturist. The garden is full of tropical plants and we expect to see many of the houseplants you will be growing at home, as mature specimens. Hibiscus rosa sinensis, Bougainvillea in many colours, Crotons in their many guises, the Dumb Cane Plant which is so popular as well as Monstera deliciosa growing into trees and 20 feet plus in height, will give you some idea of how plants grow in the tropics. In 1988 Irish Bannochie willed the gardens to the Barbados National Trust to ensure a perpetual garden always available for the public to learn from and enjoy.
