| Wedding Ashore | Couples can choose to get married onboard some cruise ships. Regulations require that for the licence to be valid, the ship has to be either in port, or less than 3 miles from land. Cruise lines can arrange the requirements on behalf of the couple, or the bride and groom can bring their own minister or priest to complete the ceremony.
Carnival and Princess Cruises have chapels onboard where the ceremony can take place. Or the cruise line can arrange for the ceremony to take place in one of the ports it visits, arranging all the requirements such as cakes, flowers, entertainment, confetti etc. | | Renewal of vows | In addition to this cruise lines can also arrange for ‘renewal of vows’ and this can be conducted by the ship’s captain. | | Heavenly Honeymoons | Celebrating your honey moon onboard a cruise is becoming increasingly popular so cruise lines are often offering added extras. These include a reception hosted by the captain, photographs, and honey moon cruise certificates. Cruise lines do not yet offer specific honeymoon suites but penthouses and top suites are extraordinary.
Honeymoon travellers must ensure they take a copy of their marriage licence or relevant forms for immigration purposes. | | A Special Anniversary | Cruise lines will do their best to mark the special occasion and recreate the romance of the special day. Some cruise lines offer special packages to celebrate anniversaries such as 10 years, Gold or silver weddings. Examples of these packages include a variety of pampering treats, special gifts and free transfers.
The cruise lines that do not offer specific packages can make special arrangements e.g. cake, champagne delivered to your cabin. These can be arranged prior to sailing or when onboard. | | Where to go? | Wedding and honeymoon packages are offered on a number of cruises. You can choose from the landscape of Alaska or the romance of the Caribbean and even the magic of the Mediterranean. Couples can choose from cruises sailing out of the UK or for a longer vacation take a fly-cruise and meeting the ship overseas. |
