SEA PRINCESS, BARBADOS-SOUTHAMPTON, APL 08

OVERALL A FANTASTIC CRUISE. SHIP, FOOD, SERVICE, TRIPS ETC SPOT ON.
THE ONLY SLIGHT PROBLEM ABOARD 'SEA PRINCESS' (WHICH IS THE PURPOSE OF POSTING THIS) IS TO ADVISE OF THE PROBLEM IN OBTAINING SEATS TO VIEW THE SHOWS IF YOU OPT FOR 2ND SITTING DINNERS. THIS IS DUE (AS FAR AS WE BELIEVE) TO BE A KNOCK-ON EFFECT OF THE 'ANY TIME DINING' FACILITY.
THIS IS PARTICULARLY CHRONIC IN THE SMALLER 'VISTA' LOUNGE. ON THE ONLY OCCASION WE MANAGED TO SIT DOWN, WE WITNESSED SEVERAL MINOR VERBAL
SKIRMISHES BETWEEN PEOPLE SEATED AND THOSE STANDING, BLOCKING THEIR VANTAGE POINTS. ENTERTAINING IN ITSELF, ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE STALWART QUITE SIMPLY REFUSED TO BUDGE!
WHILE I'M ABOUT THIS, A QUICK MENTION FOR THE USUAL SMALL RETINUE OF IGNORANT, RUDE FELLOW PASSENGERS. WHETHER THEY BE QUEUE JUMPERS, PEOPLE SHUNTERS OR MEGA MOANERS, PRINCESS CRUISES SHOULD CONSIDER THE REINTRODUCTION OF KEEL HAULING FOR THESE BOORS!!
THE 'MR GRUMPY' AWARD WENT TO ONE OF THE GENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE 'OPEN' PUTTING TOURNAMENT: ON ONE OCCASION WHEN THE ATRIUM STAIRCASE WAS BEING UTILISED AS PART OF THE COURSE, A LADY (WHO HAD NEVER PICKED UP A GOLF CLUB IN HER LIFE) STRUGGLED TO COMPLETE THE ROUND. ON FINALLY 'HOLING' OUT IN QUITE A GENEROUS AMOUNT OF SHOTS, THERE WAS GREAT CELEBRATION AND CHEERING AMONGST HER FELLOW COMPETITORS. ALL EXCEPT HENRY COTTON THAT IS, AFTER THE FURORE HAD SUBSIDED , HE HAD A QUIET WORD WITH HER: 'I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU BOTHER, THIS IS FOR PROPER GOLFERS' THIS EXTREMELY DELIGHTFUL AND POPULAR LADY IS ADAMANT THAT HE WAS DEADLY SERIOUS!!

Comments from other Reviewers

On the Grand Princess ( probably same as Sea ) even if you are on anytime dining, you can still book a table as long as it is a bit in advance ( prior to lunchtime same day from memory )That way you can book at a time that suits to see a show

I totally agree with all the comments from A.Jones, Chester. We were at the same table for 2nd Seating dinner and Gabriella our waitress was exceptional. Princess should be congratulated on the overall standard of service and quality of food. The only down side was the availabilty of seats in the theatres for 2nd sitting diners. One of the best holidays we have had Neil H. Rotherham

I was on this cruise as well and I agree regarding the seating in the theatres. My only other gripe was the breakfast in Horizon Court the English Bacon was not like any I have had goodness knows what they did to it and the baked beans were horrible do they shop at Lidl?
